Cordaata · go-to-market

The 200-mile radius, mapped the same way

Tampa got named companies, real headcounts, and actual openers. This extends that same method to every real market inside a 200-mile radius — plus a second buyer entirely: VCs and private equity firms, who don't buy the way a mid-market CISO does and shouldn't be pitched like one.

01 · The radius, for real

What's actually inside 200 miles

Measured as straight-line distance from Tampa, not drive time. Two cities get the same account-level treatment Tampa got — Orlando and Jacksonville, both close enough and dense enough with regulated mid-market employers to earn it. The rest get an honest snapshot: real facts, not invented depth. One city sits right at the edge and matters anyway, for a different reason — it's where the VC/PE section starts.

What "snapshot" means here A snapshot city gets real, sourced facts about what's actually there — not a fabricated account list. Where the research didn't turn up a genuine 500–5,000-employee regulated employer, that's stated plainly instead of forced. Any of these can get full Tampa-grade treatment on request.
02 · Deep dive, 85 miles out

Orlando

Orlando's economy runs on tourism at the headline level, which makes it easy to miss that it's also home to a real, if smaller, cluster of the same regulated mid-market institutions Tampa has — credit unions and investment managers with actual named security leadership.

Fairwinds Credit Union
524–600 employees · $5B+ assets

240,000+ members, founded 1949. Squarely in the 500–5,000 band. Named security leadership: Matthew Cannon, CISSP, VP & Information Security Officer (20+ years in the field), reporting alongside Charlie Lai, EVP & CIO. One listing suggests Fairwinds may be recruiting for a senior information-security role — worth confirming before treating it as a live signal.

CNL Financial Group
$34B+ AUM · founded 1973

Private investment management and commercial real estate firm headquartered in Orlando. No employee count confirmed — a real gap, not a claim. Worth a scoping call before a full pitch.

Correction caught during research CNO Financial Group (NYSE: CNO) shows up in generic "Orlando financial services" lists, but its actual corporate headquarters relocated to Carmel, Indiana in 2023–2024. It is not an Orlando target and is left off this list on purpose.
Orlando Credit Union (100–250 empl.)Orlando Federal Credit Union (51–200 empl.)

Both below the 500-employee floor — noted for completeness, not prioritized.

03 · Deep dive, 181 miles out

Jacksonville

Jacksonville is Florida's largest city and carries four Fortune 500 headquarters in financial services alone. That's exactly why most of it is the wrong target: those four are tens of thousands of employees each, with security budgets set well above any single-threaded sales motion. Underneath that enterprise layer, though, sit two real, right-sized, regulated institutions — and one of them has the strongest single opener anywhere in this research so far.

VyStar Credit Union
2,300+ employees · $11B assets

770,000+ members, 4th-largest financial institution in Northeast Florida. In May 2022, VyStar rolled out a new online banking platform that crashed on launch; some features stayed broken for over six months. On October 31, 2024, the CFPB fined VyStar $1.5M and ordered member reimbursement, citing "governance failures and assumption of excessive risk" — VyStar pushed the conversion forward against its own development team's warnings, ahead of an unrealistic deadline. That phrase, from a federal regulator, is the whole FORRI pitch in five words: a decision made without a quantified number behind it. Named CISO: Carl Scaffidi, SVP & Chief Information Security Officer — a finalist for the 2024 Georgia CISO ORBIE Award. Tim Craig, VP Information Security, and Lisa Cochran, CIO, round out the team.

Citizens Property Insurance Corporation
≈1,500 employees

Florida's state-created insurer of last resort, with offices in both Jacksonville and Tallahassee. Nonprofit, government-affiliated, genuinely regulated — right-sized for the same motion as Tampa's Tier 1 insurers, though as a public entity its procurement process likely runs slower.

Why the rest of Jacksonville is excluded Jacksonville hosts four Fortune 500 financial-services headquarters and 20+ Fortune Global 500 operations overall — but every one of them is enterprise-scale, the same problem that ruled out Citi and JPMorgan in Tampa.

04 · The rest of the radius, honestly

Snapshot cities

Not every city inside 200 miles has a Tampa or a Jacksonville hiding in it. Here's what's actually there, researched enough to be honest, not enough to claim account-level depth.

Fort Myers – Naples
110–145 mi · Southwest Florida

The honest surprise of this research: despite being another hurricane-exposed Gulf Coast market, no P&C insurer headquarters turned up here — only independent local agencies. The regional economy runs on retirees, wealth management, and real estate rather than insurance-carrier HQs. Worth a second look for family-office wealth managers, not for the Tampa playbook as-is.

Fort Lauderdale – Broward
197 mi · right at the edge

One real, right-sized account confirmed here: Universal Insurance Holdings (NYSE: UVE), headquartered at 1110 W Commercial Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, 1,000–5,000 employees — squarely in the ICP band. IT and security leadership appear bundled into a single seat rather than split out: Kimberly Cooper (now Kim Cooper Campos on LinkedIn) has held Chief Information Officer since February 2015, and the company's own announcement named "systems, processes, infrastructure and security" as one combined mandate — no separate CISO title surfaced. A bundled IT/security seat is a real opener for Cordaata's pitch, not a dead end: that's exactly the overloaded-executive pattern the ICP is built for. Broward's own credit unions don't clear the 500-employee floor — the largest confirmed, Broward Healthcare Federal Credit Union, runs about 18 employees on $96M in assets. FedNat Insurance, once headquartered nearby in Sunrise, was ordered into liquidation by a Florida court in September 2022 and is excluded. Memorial Healthcare System and Broward Health, the county's two large public hospital systems, are enterprise-scale and excluded on the same logic as Moffitt and BayCare in Tampa. Not yet a full Tampa-grade deep dive — no dated incident or trigger event found for Universal specifically.

Gainesville
≈130 mi · University town

Anchored by the University of Florida and UF Health Shands — a large academic health system, but the same "too big, too institutional" caveat as Moffitt and BayCare in Tampa applies before it's even researched.

Ocala
≈90 mi · Smaller market

No confirmed regulated mid-market employer surfaced in this pass. Lower priority unless a specific lead points here.

Melbourne – Space Coast
≈140 mi · Defense & aerospace

L3Harris Technologies is headquartered here with roughly 10,000 Brevard County employees and 47,000+ globally — the largest private employer on the Space Coast, and far too large for this motion. But defense contractors answer to CMMC and DFARS cyber requirements, a genuinely different regulatory driver worth its own pass at the mid-market subcontractor tier, not researched here.

Port St. Lucie
186 mi · Treasure Coast

Smaller market; Cleveland Clinic Martin Health has a presence in the broader Treasure Coast area, but no regulated mid-market employer was confirmed headquartered in Port St. Lucie itself.

05 · A different buyer, a different motion

VCs and private equity aren't mid-market CISOs

Every account above works the same way: find the company, find its CISO, quantify its risk. VC and PE firms break that pattern on purpose. A firm managing $500M might run twenty people total — there's no 500-employee threshold to clear and usually no CISO at all. Pitching one like a mid-market insurer wastes the call.

Two plays actually fit how these firms operate. Acquisition diligence: a PE firm underwriting a buyout needs to know what it's inheriting — FORRI's ALE output slots into deal diligence next to the financial model, not instead of it. Portfolio monitoring: once a firm owns a company, GPs increasingly want a standard risk view across every portfolio company at once — the GP champions it, but the portfolio company's own budget usually pays, the same economic-buyer split as a boardroom before a CISO ever gets pulled in.

GP ≠ buyer The GP opens the door. The portfolio company's budget closes the deal. Selling to the fund itself is the wrong target twice over.

Statewide PE — bigger, more competitive, worth knowing

Coral Gables
Trivest Partners

Founded 1981; 300+ transactions, $6B+ in value, focused on founder- and family-owned businesses. Broad sector base (consumer, healthcare, niche manufacturing, business services) rather than a financial-services specialist.

West Palm Beach
ComVest Partners

Founded 2000, middle-market focus, $5.1B+ invested, $3.6B+ AUM today. Right deal size for this pitch; sector base leans healthcare, technology, and industrial services.

Miami
H.I.G. Capital

$37B in equity capital under management — the largest, most credible logo in the region, and the most competitive to break into for a two-person vendor with no case studies. A longer-term target, not a first call.

West Palm Beach — "Wall Street South"

Palm Beach County has its own economic-development brand for this: over 300 hedge funds, private equity, and wealth-management firms now based there, with 60–70 relocating from New York since 2013 — Ken Griffin's Citadel and Paul Singer's Elliott Management among the highest-profile moves, with Paulson & Co. also establishing a South Florida presence. It's a real, well-documented cluster, 174 air miles from Tampa.

Important distinction, not a footnote Most of that 300+ figure is hedge funds, not private equity — and hedge funds trade securities, they don't typically own and operate portfolio companies the way a PE buyout firm does. The portfolio-monitoring pitch fits PE and buyout shops specifically; a hedge fund is a different, weaker fit and shouldn't be pitched the same way. Treat West Palm Beach as a strong PE and family-office target, not a blanket "funds are here" opportunity.
Re-verified 2026-09-14 Checked back on the two open items this map was carrying: Slide Insurance's first-ever CISO seat is still listed as an open requisition across multiple job boards, no hire announced yet — still a live buying-window signal, not a stale one. HCI Group and Heritage Insurance Holdings still have no publicly confirmed named CISO. Nothing else in the existing account list has visibly changed since the prior pass.
Standing honesty flag, carried over from the Tampa page Cordaata still has zero confirmed U.S. presence, entity, or named customers. Regional breadth doesn't change that — the opener stays a free, bounded risk-snapshot, not a platform pitch, until there's a first reference logo anywhere in this territory.
